It feels so good to be appreciated - so appreciate others more often! How would school be affected if the small things (and BIG things) people do for others were recognized more often? Wouldn’t that be a place you would WANT to come to each day?
Some tips for offering appreciations:
Be genuine -an inauthentic appreciation can be upsetting.
Speak from the heart.
Talk about the impact the other person’s action have had on you. (For example, “I appreciate how, every time I arrive at school, you welcome me with such a big smile! It makes me feel happy to be there.”)
Stay focused on the recipient. (For example, “Thank you so much for helping me pick up my things. The hallway was super crazy. I’m so glad I wasn’t late for class. I really appreciated the help.”
