It feels so good to be appreciated - so appreciate others more often!  How would school be affected if the small things (and BIG things) people do for others were recognized more often?  Wouldn’t that be a place you would WANT to come to each day?

Some tips for offering appreciations:

  • Be genuine -an inauthentic appreciation can be upsetting.

  • Speak from the heart.

  • Talk about the impact the other person’s action have had on you. (For example, “I appreciate how, every time I arrive at school, you welcome me with such a big smile!  It makes me feel happy to be there.”)

  • Stay focused on the recipient.  (For example, “Thank you so much for helping me pick up my things. The hallway was super crazy.  I’m so glad I wasn’t late  for class.  I really appreciated the help.”
