Family: Husband-Gary; sons Tim, Darin, and Patrick; 4 grandchildren, all attending Norris school
Comments on Board service: I believe passionately that a free, excellent public education provides a common denominator for ALL children, providing a level playing field for every child to succeed in life. Serving on the Board of Education is one of the most important volunteer involvements a person can have. Norris is an excellent school and we need to always work to make it better!
Her Accomplishments:
- 1996: Gymnasium added to Elementary, classrooms and office space added for buildings.
- 2000: Classrooms expanded in Elementary School, add day kindergarten expansion.
- 2004: bond issue passed for new Middle School; F-4 “Hallam tornado: decimates campus. Campus sites including bus barn, athletic fields, and auditorium are rebuilt and renovated.
- 2006: New Middle School opens, including a new competition gymnasium on the south side of the facility.
- 2012: $14 million bond issue passes for new Intermediate School (grades 3-4-5).
- 2013: Intermediate School opens, (+65,000 square foot facility with three grade level wings, MPR, gymnasium, media center, computer labs, special areas, etc.). West HS expansion, fitness center expansion/renovation in HS.
- 2015: Artificial turf field (SprinTurf) installed and track resurfacing projects at Titans Stadium.Patty served as the Region 1 Director of the Nebraska Association of School Boards from November 2008 until November 2016. This NASB board is made up of 24 regional directors, from all across the great state of Nebraska.
- Patty also served on the ALICAP Board of Trustees from January 2001 to current. ALICAP is an insurance pool for Nebraska’s public schools. ALICAP was the insurance program that assisted Norris during their 2004 tornado claim.
