Spring Game

Norris TeamMates attended The Nebraska Spring game with 8 mentees and 14 mentors.  A special thanks to Norris for providing he bus as well at Betty Hruska for driving.  The group arrived at the Haymarket baseball field and was treated to a lunch from Runza.  Over 2000 Teammates mentors and mentees from across Nebraska filled the stadium.  Helping with the greeting were Herbie, Little Red, and Nebraska cheerleaders.  Buses from Alliance, Burwell, and many more chapters were seen in the parking lot.  Several mentees shared what TeamMates meant for them.  DeMoine Adams, TeamMates post secondary coordinator and former NU football player, was the MC.  Each senior that was at the event received a personal certificate, backpack, and medallion.  Ryan Liesemeyer, one of our 6 seniors this year was at the celebration.  After the graduation ceremony everyone headed out the centerfield gate and walked to the Memorial Stadium for the spring game.  Students were invited to onto the football field at half time to take a drug and alcohol drug free pledge.  A special thanks to everyone who was able to attend the game

Spring Celebration

DeMoine Adams, TeamMates scholarship and postsecondary coordinator and former NU football player, provided a message about “reaching your potential” to more than 80 people at the annual Norris TeamMates Year-End Celebration in the Norris Middle School.  DeMoine graduated in 2002 from UNL as a standout Blackshirt, Academic  All-Big 12 and Academic All-American honors.  He was a three-time Brook Berringer Citizenship Team recipient as well as 2002 Fellowship of Christian Athlete of the Year.  DeMoine’s talk motivated mentees, mentors and family to be persistent. The path we follow may not always be easy or show consistent growth but with work and help everyone can “reach their potential.”   Everyone enjoyed a meal from Raising Canes with cookies from Eileens.  Each mentee introduced themselves, their mentor, said something they liked about being involved with Teammates and was able to choose a piece of Norris apparel .  A TeamMates carabineer and a disk was provided to recognize board and mentors for the number of years of working with Teammates. Norris is always looking for new mentors.  To make a difference one child at a time requires only one hour a week.  If you would like more information on how to become a mentor contact Mary Ann at maryann.franken@nsdtitans.org or 402-791-0040
