The Norris Foundation’s annual “Titan Twister” golf tournament was held on Monday, June 19 on the beautiful course at Yankee Hill Country Club in South Lincoln. Friends, alum, and corporate partners of the Norris School District showed up in droves to help ensure this year’s tournament was one of the most successful ever.

The 2017 tournament featured 30 teams and 120 golfers. 18 corporate sponsors donated $500 each, and 31 hole sponsors offered $150 each to help support our Foundation. LUnch was furnished by Dickey’s Barbecue (thanks to Will Carter) and a putting contest was sponsored by Titan Fitness of Hickman. The annual hole-in-one automobile prize was furnished by Beatrice Ford (thanks to Ray Hernandez).

The festivities began at 11:30 AM with registration and check-in for players and foursomes. Members of the Norris cheer squad under the supervision of Cheer Coach Tristan Mitchell were on hand to greet golfers and send them off with a Norris cheer on the shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. The tournament conditions were excellent with sunshine, a moderate breeze, and temps in the low 80s.

As Norris Foundation Board of Directors member and Titans alum Chad Otto said, “When you participate in an event like this and witness everyone’s efforts on the sponsorships, and see all golfers out there, it makes me very proud to say I am a Titan.” Norris faculty member and alum Phil Severson said, “What makes this such a memorable day for me is that it is great to see former classmates, former students and so many long time friends.  This tournament is always a fun time to catch up on how things are going with everyone.”

Norris Superintendent John Skretta extended congratulations to the Foundation on its successful fundraising efforts with this year’s tournament and offered special commendation to Larry Grosshans, Norris BOD and Norris Foundation Board member. Larry chairs the Foundation’s Golf Tournament Committee annually. Dr. Skretta said, “Thanks to everyone for helping out and making it a memorable event and a huge thanks to Larry Grosshans for leading the charge on this tournament.”
