Norris School District 160 is pleased to announce Dr. Derrick Joel as the next Superintendent, effective July 1, 2024. Dr. Joel will replace Dr. Brian Maschmann, who was approved to be the ESU 6 Administrator on April 11, 2024. Dr. Maschmann served the Norris School District for 14 years as both Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent.

Dr. Joel is excited to continue working alongside Norris’ talented educators, staff, parents, and community partners to build on the district’s strengths, address challenges, and achieve a shared vision for the future. Dr. Joel’s wife, Kari, is one of the high school counselors, and they have three children in the district, Jackson (5th Grade), Charlotte (3rd Grade), and Vivian (2nd Grade).
