Additional Information
Hometown: I grew up in Fairmont, Nebraska, where my parents still reside. I attended kindergarten through 7th grade at Fairmont Public Schools before they consolidated with Geneva to form Fillmore Central Public Schools, where I graduated from.
Education:
- I attended the University of Nebraska - Lincoln for my undergraduate degree. I earned a Bachelors of Science in Secondary Education with a Natural Sciences endorsement.
- I obtained my Master of Science in Biology from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. My field research and thesis involved studying cattail (Typha latifolia and Typha domingensis) pruning techniques in urban wetlands and subsequent recommendations for successful management and mitigation.
- I returned to the University of Nebraska at Kearney to earn my Master of Arts in Educational Administration with a Secondary Principal endorsement.
- I am currently finished with my coursework for my Doctorate program through the University of Nebraska - Omaha and am working on my dissertation which is focused on teacher retention and attrition.
Teaching and Administrative Experience:
- I taught high school science (astronomy, biology, anatomy & physiology, physical science, and Advanced Placement Biology) at Millard West High School in Omaha, NE. I had the privilege of helping coach the MWHS Forensics team, served as the advisor for the MWHS Chapter of Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA), helped supervise athletic events and announced for baseball.
- My first administrative position was as Assistant Principal at Russell Middle School in Millard Public Schools. RMS is a 6-8th grade building with 750+ students. I was responsible for implementation of all curriculum, supervised instruction, oversaw academic and behavioral interventions, and coordinated the building learning plan, including planning and development of all building professional development.
Family: My wife, Andrea, and I are very excited to be part of the Norris community. We have two sons, Daniel and Jacob, who are also excited to be Titans.
