Additional Information
I was born and raised in Minden, Nebraska, and attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney. In May of 1998, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a Graphic Design minor. My endorsement is in Art K-12.
In August of 1998, I began teaching at Norris School District. In the High School, I teach Advanced Ceramics, Graphic Design, Photography, Multimedia Design, & Web Design. I'm also the sponsor for the Norris High School Yearbook, Art Club, serve as the district webmaster, and coordinate our live video streaming on the school's various YouTube channels.
I have managed the Norris website (webmaster) since 2001. We have gone through many different iterations of the Norris website and we’ve always tried to make it the most content-rich and user-friendly site possible. We use our site’s analytics to make sure the most used features are easily accessible and we try our very best to make sure that things are updated and easy to navigate.
I have also coordinated our video streaming for many years. In 2020 and the following year, the pandemic turbo-charged livestreaming for schools across the country but video streaming was not a new activity to Norris. In the fall of 2003 (yes, over 20 years ago), Norris purchased its first video streaming equipment and later that spring, we streamed the District Music Contest to the internet. The following year we stream some volleyball and boys & girls basketball games. These were met with limited success due to the technology available and the need to maintain our own video streaming server. The high Bandwidth resolution was 320 x 240 and a low bandwidth option was available at 240 x 180…which was about the size of a postage stamp :) We continued to do some games here and there but in the winter of 2015-2016, we streamed our first games (BB & Wrestling) to YouTube. We now maintain over 13 different YouTube Channels and stream all home, varsity contests to YouTube.
